Jeff Whelchel joined Wood Financial January of 2021 after more than 21 years as a family physician in the Amarillo are.
Jeff is a financial advisor and holds the Series 7 General Securities Registration, Series 66 Uniform Combined State Law Exam, and a Texas General Lines Life and Health Insurance License.
Jeff's interest in financial planning began long before it became his second career. He led several Financial Peace University classes at his church and developed a passion for helping people make wise decisions with their money. His years as a physician also shaped the way he approaches financial advising. Both professions require listening carefully, understanding the whole picture, explaining complicated issues simply, and helping people make important decisions when the right answer isn't always obvious.
Today, Jeff brings that same practical, personal approach to financial planning and investment management. His goal is to help clients understand where they are, where they want to go, and build a straightforward plan to get there.
Jeff is also an author. his writing includes his memoir, practical nonfiction, and children's books reflecting his interests in faith, family, personal growth, and helping others understand complicated subjects in a clear and approachable way.
Outside the office, Jeff enjoys golf, pickleball, watching sports, working in his yard, and especially spending time with his wife Pam, their three children, and their grandchildren. He is a member of Journey Church, and he sings bass with UpWord Quartet.
